Better Finance Stories

There are millions of flipping commercial insurance dot com sites to compare . All I need are life insurance companies not commercial insurance. I'll be more specific and type in life insurance companies. Click and there we are,that's better .Life insurance companies ,loads of them. Now out of all those life insurance companies I just need to select one and my job is done. I clicked on the first one I came to and filled in their online form. I couldn't be bothered going through all the rest.

I had my garden to sort out .The gales had brought down my arches and I needed to take them down and re-plant my climbing plants some where else.

Just then there was a knock at the door. Oh blow it I wanted to get on and its that blessed neighbour Edie again.

'Hello Matty, I hope you don't mind'

'No of course not love' I did mind. 'What can I do for you love'

'Well its my washer I've got washing in and its full of water and won't empty'

'Ok I'll pop round and see what I can do'

We went into her kitchen and I twisted the knob round and round ,jiggled the door and nothing happened. It was truly locked up.

'Have you still got a guarantee on it love'

'No it ran out last month I had a look'

'OK lets pull it out and see if the electrics are OK I'm not promising anything mind'

I pulled out the washing machine and knelt down to check anything that was obvious to the eye that might be wrong. It all seemed in working order to me.

'I can't see anything obvious love I think you are going to need a plumber'

'Oh dear and her eyes fell to the floor.......whats that?' Edie pointed to the skirting board where something small was shining.

I bent down and picked it up. It was a simple gold ring. I handed it to Edie.

'I don't believe it ! she held the ring and quietly stared a it .Tears welled up in her eyes and she sat down.

'Are you OK love.. Do you want a cup of tea?'

'Do you you mind?'

'Of course I don't mind, I can see you are upset' I began making the brew.

' I'm sorry, its just brought back a flood of memories. It was my wedding ring. When Albert was putting in the kitchen we had an argument. Its funny I can't even remember what it was about .I was only young and I retaliated by throwing my ring at him. Then I stormed out of the house. As was Albert's way he would have just let me get on with my paddy while he got on with the Kitchen. ' Edie was Twiddling the ring between her thumb and finger. It wouldn't fit her sausage fingers now.

'He must not have seen it and its been lost all these years. I must be his way of saying I'm still with you Edie. Thank you love' and she looked up as if he was around her.

'I had no idea you had been married Edie.' I was shocked I thought I was living next door to an old spinster. This lovely lady had been part of another life. I felt ashamed by my ignorance.

'No, most people don't know I have been married.You know I still love him and miss him to this day, its very hard.' We chatted about Edie and her life for the rest of the afternoon, she turned out to be entertaining and interesting. That little lady I used to dread knocking at the door for another favour had been replaced by a welcome visitor who popped in whenever she fancied a chat.

I'm glad I her washer broke down!
